MWOTR PVC Series One Review
I finally got in my hands on the very first PVC set of Mystical Warriors of the Ring toyline released in october, the previous releases were resin casts so not so playing-friendly, especially if you are going to pull out some wrestling moves with your other minifigures (i.e. MUSCLE), but fear no more! This release comes in a simple plastic bag but instead to have a header card like the majority of the indie toy scene products, it is enhanced by a very cool sticker that portraits the fighters in a nice 90's cartoon style alongside with disclaimers and informations. Let's see the figures in all their gloriousness, they stand roughly 2'' tall, so they are perfectly compatible with most of the others minifigures out there, they are made of high durable PVC plastic (at the same factory where Glyos products are made) and they are slightly bendable so you can make some cool wrestling moves. The first colors are flesh and red, both very similar to the MUSCLE counterparts but not quite the same. The wrestlers are: Kayin Kungaa, Sheldon Sabre and The Widowmaker. They features a great level of details, thanks to the 3-D digital modelling used to build the sculpts. Here are some comparison shots of my personal favourite: The Widowmaker, who borrows the look&feel of my all-time favourite minifigure: #70 MUSCLE Ashuraman. From left to right: MUSCLE Ashuraman, MWOTR Widowmaker and Exogini Medusa. MIMP Kali, MWOTR Widowmaker and Exogini Medusa. Three new colors have been released only few days ago: Pearlescent Blue, Glow in the Dark and Pearlescent Black (the last one exclusively at Jay's CD and Hobby). If you are a minifigures lover you can't miss these figures, go get the PVC sets at TRUECAST Studio or the resin figures at Fantastic Plastic Toys and don't forget to check out the official blog!
